I’ve known Dave Russell of Spyder Environmental for nearly a decade and was provided an opportunity to work with him in the Fall of 2021. As a project manager for a custom home builder, I had a project that involved some specialized, steep-slope excavation work and Dave came to mind.
The project’s steep and rough site made for a challenging septic and drain field design, that ultimately placed the drain field 700 feet below the homesite. A pipe needed to be laid to connect the home to the drain field, and accomplishing this work was not possible using a conventional excavator and operator, and so we were left with the options of Horizontal Direction Drilling, or using a specialized, steep slope machine like Dave Russell’s Kaiser Spyder. Horizontal drilling in the rocky conditions seemed impossible, and certainly expensive.
Dave and his machine were a good fit, and they jumped on the task and completed the work successfully, and for less than the estimated cost. His walking excavator is a VERY impressive machine for sitework, excavation, and forestry tasks in rough or steep conditions that are often found in Northwest Montana. Dave himself is an impressive character; pleasant to work with, having the intellect to properly plan and organize a workflow and with the grit needed to accomplish the work itself.
If you’re looking for a service like Dave’s, and for a person and machine that will work beyond what is expected of them, look no further than Spyder Environmental.
